Swiss Re Tower // The Gherkin

January 26th, 2005

Right then, this is very annoying… my hosting company simplybehosted.com had a major hiccup over the weekend (28th-30th Jan), one of their hard disks failed, which lost me three days of data and up-time. I was and still am very annoyed by this, the down time I can cope with, but the loss of data… well that’s unforgivable and inexcusable. Very bad service indeed, they should have decent backup procedures in place, to prevent this. I advise anyone, who would consider them to go elsewhere.

Anyway with that off my chest, I can start replacing the lost posts.
This set was taken whilst I was up in London last week… I’ll try to remember what I wrote about it:

This is the Swiss Re Tower, which is also know as The Gherkin and was designed by the master British architect Sir Norman Foster. It’s London’s 8th tallest building, which towers over the Financial district rather imposingly and gracefully. I think that this building is a great addition to the capital and compliments the London skyline very nicely indeed.
