Kimmeridge Bay // The Purbecks

April 7th, 2005

This set is of Kimmeridge Bay, which is on the Purbecks in Dorset. A beautiful bay with quite some history, 150 million years of it in fact. It’s a Jurassic SSSI (site of special scientific interest) and is chock-a-block full of Ammonite fossils. Great place to go if you’re interested in fossils, as I am, and it only takes about 10 minutes to find some.
Quite amazing really, you can go and unearth animals which died 150 million years ago - and see something that has never been seen before.
Unfortunately I haven’t got any photos of the fossils here, but I plan to go back soon and get some.

Update:
Added set to this weeks Photofriday challenge - Plastic. The dumbies and bouys are made of plastic, so quite fitting I think.
